I wrote an article previously, about Skyline collector deployment and there are some changes to the deployment steps and I thought to write this article to explain these changes.
The latest VMware Skyline Collector need a Registration Token from VMware Cloud Services and Organization should be configured to obtain the Registration Token. In the middle of the VMware Skyline Collector Deployment you will be getting a step to register the collector with VMware Cloud Services.

To Generate a VMware Skyline Registration Token, you need to login to the VMware Skyline getting started url https://skyline.vmware.com/get-started so you will be redirecting to a page like this. Just click on the “GET STARTED” button, you need to login to the

Just wait for couple more seconds and you will be on the VMware Cloud Services Page
You have to use your myVMware account or if you don’t have one it is the place to create and account

Once you successfully logged in to the VMware Cloud Services you can create your first Organization

Provide the details such as “Organization Name and Address (it will automatically populate from your myVMware account)“, if not you can manually add the address here. Accept the “Terms and Conditions” and click on “CONTINUE” to create the Organization unit.

Click on “ASSOCIATE SUPPORT ENTITLEMENT” to detect the the support agreement

Once it detects the support agreement “PROCEED TO NEXT STEP“

If you haven’t downloaded the VMware Skyline Collector, you can download the Collector from here.

You can also see the “Installation and the Configuration Guide” in the next stage

Registration Token can be generated at the next stages

Click on the “CREATE NEW TOKEN” button to create a token

Simply, copy the created token and paste on the VMware Skyline Appliance Registration window

If you have the old configured VMware Skyline Appliances which are not in the VMware Skyline Cloud Services, you can migrate to the cloud services here. BTW, my appliance if upgraded to the 2.0 but here it still shows as 1.4

It will schedul to migrate to VMware Cloud Services, and you can see the success message

You can see the “Migration in progress…” note in the selected appliance

In the Final Step, you can access the VMware Advisor link to access the Advisor

How To View The VMware Cloud Services Organization
To access the VMware Cloud Services Organization, just click on the Username on the top right corner and click on the “View Organization” option

You can change the Organization Details once you log in to the Organization Unit

Enabled services and services available to enable can be seen under services tab

Under “Identity & Access Management” tab you can see the Owner User account

To add new users, provide the email address of the user, assign organization and service roles to the user

Invitation will be sent to the recipient

If user did not accept the invitation, it will list under pending invitations
